How to Save Marriage

Tuesday, May 4th, 2010

You thought you’re the most unlikely person to ask that question but here you are, faced with the sad truth of your marriage leading to a failure. There’s nothing else you can do but to accept and find a solution for you and your partner’s conflict.

1st Rule of How Save A Marriage is to Admit your Guilt

Admit your faults and shortcomings. And for someone, It’s never easy to do that particularly if the issue is about faithfulness. Perhaps, nothing hurts your spouse more than for you to be unfaithful to her or him, yet, you shouldn’t let that cause your marriage to end.

How could a marriage be saved after unfaithfulness?

The first step is to be truthful with yourself as well as your partner. Determine the reasons why you’ve been unfaithful which you knew will cause your partner terrible hurt but still, you chose to be unfaithful. What caused the unfaithfulness? Perhaps, you were just attracted to the other person and you found yourself unable to refuse. You surely know that’s not the only reason. Or maybe that person provided something for you that you don’t get from your spouse.

Additionally, admitting your mistake to yourself is one thing. Confessing it to your partner is quiet another thing. And it’s not that easy. It has never been. But if your marriage is really significant to you, you need to take courage to do it and be prepared for the annoyance and accusations from your spouse. There’s nothing else you could do about this and it’s necessarily a part of how to save a marriage, at the same time, it can also be hurtful.

Anger and hurt are natural in situations like this so it’s likely you’ll hear harsh words from your partner. Realize that those are all a part of it and avoid arguing back whenever possible. Don’t forget that you are trying to keep your marriage from turning into a tragedy so protecting yourself will only make the problem worse.

Also, the right place and time plays an important role in how to save a marriage after your transgression. First things first. You should talk things through for as long as necessary and in complete privacy. The bedroom is an ideal place, but on second thought, you do not want such an important room to become a representation of your infidelity that will always be imprinted on your partner’s mind.

And as for the right time, realize that your explanation will certainly disturb and hurt your partner and there’s really no right time for dismaying situations like this. Nonetheless, you can be sensitive and mindful of your partner’s attitude. Make sure that there’s no major situation presently taking place. Things such as pregnancy, job promotion as well as down moments like sickness, a loved one’s death are a few examples. Occasions like those can have a great effect on your partner’s mindset and more trouble will only intensify the anxiety.

Lastly, understand that your wrongful act is small because it’s definitely not. Perhaps, you and your partner’s relationship wil be greatly affected by a lasting impression and he or she may not easily forgive and forget. Infidelity isn’t just a wrongdoing. Its definitely a grave transgression. You have dishonored an important oath you have sworn to your spouse and also in God’s name.

There are many factors to keep in mind on how save a marriage after an act of unfaithfulness. In the end, it all depends on those involved. It’s either they are or are not willing to save their marriage based on their love and dedication.

Common questions and concerns regarding marriage counseling

Saturday, January 2nd, 2010

One of the hardest things to do is basically to seek help from other people when your marriage is having problems.  This is probably due to the fact that marriage is something so intimate and private. But there are many reasons to seek marriage counseling when you need help simply because it is so intimate.  Well in this article we are going to look at some questions people have concerning marriage counseling.

First of all, if you do go and get help, who does the marriage counseling?  The people who do the counseling are people who have been licensed as Marriage and Family Therapists. They are trained to diagnose and treat mental and emotional problems.  As a marriage counselor San Diego I was required to participate in two years of clinical experience. You can definitely trust they have experience since all therapists will have this requirement.

Another thing that comes to mind is whether or not these people are psychiatrists.  Although they are not they do go through an extensive post graduate training. They could actually go as high as a doctoral program with it. So the training and qualifications are usually very high although they are actually not a psychiatrist.  That is one thing I inform my clients of my family counselor San Diego practice.Training and schooling is definitely and legally required and done by all therapists.

Lastly, a lot of people are simply concerned or worried with the cost of a counseling session. When you think about how important a resolution is, cost should not be an issue though this is definitely an understandable concern. But most of the sessions will just cost about 0 generally.  That is generally what one session in my San Diego marriage counseling practice goes for.

So these answers will hopefully help you to feel good and confident when seeking for help.  When your marriage is on the line you want to do whatever you can to save it. A step in the right direction you must take is basically seeking help from a qualified marriage counselor.

Friday, January 1st, 2010

One of the most wonderful things that people can experince in their lifetime is having to spend their life with their partners. But for some it is the most painful thing that they can undergo. Those cases happen when the relationship is in a quandary.A beautiful relationship that turned sour is one of the saddest things to go through. That is why in this article we would be talking about things that indicate that a relationship is due for a counseling.Because getting some needed help can still save the relationship before all is too late.

Seeking help to help their troubled relationship is one of the hardest things to do for a couple.  That is why in my marriage counselor San Diego service I often get cases where it is too late.Naturally, it is easier to fix the problems of those couples that seek help as early as they spot problems in their relationship. But that is not the case for most of the couple that go to me.The main thing that can really solve a couple’s problems is their willingness to try to work it out.If they are willing even if they seek help at an eraler time it still would not work.

But if a couple has decided to seek help already marriage counseling can help them in a lot of ways.  One of my specialties as a family counselor San Diego practice is the ability to help a couple communicate better.  Often times problems in marriage starts from a breakdown in communications.  If a couple learns how to communicate that usually helps start the reconciliation.

Another thing that can help the couple through marriage counseling is it provides a neutral ground for them to work their differences out. What I mean by that is it provides a place of safety for bother parties involved. So they can work out their problems in the office of the counselor and not in their homes where their children might get affected by their arguments.  This is what helps a lot of my clients of my couples counseling San Diego practice start the road getting better.

So hopefully after reading this article you would be more inclined to seek help to save your relationship.
