Safety issues of delivering a baby at your own homes

Saturday, December 19th, 2009

One way of giving birth to a baby is by hiring a midwife. They may not be a nurse or a doctor but a midwife is also a licensed professional. What they generally do is assist pregnant women give birth naturally. And this natural way is also done mostly at the houses of the mothers. This would be the reason why a lot of people question its safety. We would be talking about the safety issues of this delivery method in this article.

First of all as a San Diego midwife this allows me to answer these questions with knowledge.Safety is the main concern of the people about this method.Well you might be surprised but midwives are also trained to handle emergencies during the delivery of the babies. And most of the things that can happen during a delivery midwives are ready to handle.

The fact that this method is usually done at homes is another concern for most people. What they are worrying about is that they assume that there is no sufficient tools for emergencies and there are no doctors.  But in general in my midwives San Diego service I only take women who are healthy. It means that if there are serious concerns about the pregnancy then I would recommend them to deliver the baby in the hospital. Or if there has been a history of issues with delivery I will suggest they deliver in a hospital.

A midwife does have the training and possess necesssary medical equipments for emergencies. But since the birth of method is naturally done then less complications would be experienced. That is the general experience of my San Diego licensed midwife service. The drugs administered during a delivery is what usually causes these compications. And doing it the natural way would lessen these complications.

So hopefully you see that a midwife and a home birth are safe alternatives to delivering a baby.So if you want to go natural you must research more about it.  You will be gladly surprised with all the good information you will find. You will realize that this method is safer than you think.

Pregnancies and how midwives can help them

If a woman gets pregnant there would be a lot of important decisins that should be decided upon immediately. They need to choose a doctor.  More than likely they need to choose a hospital.  And there a few other things. Most women don’t realize that they also have the choice of opting for a natural delivery. That is when mothers do not want drugs to be administered on them during the delivery itself. As a lot more people become health-conscious this method is gaining popularity.A profession that really helps in this area is called midwifery.

What is really the use of midwifery? It is defined as the practice of assisting women to give birth naturally. Of course there a lot more defintions. But this explains it simply.  As a San Diego licensed midwife that is the job which is to help a woman attempt to deliver naturally. This can give a lot of benefits.  Mainly of course no drug use. Plus without using drugs it actually helps the delivery proceed faster.Because most drugs administered during the delivery actually slows down the delivery.

Women now not just choose to give birth naturally but also opt to give birth at their own homes.  They are choosing the home to deliver their baby.  This seems a lot more different then people are used to.  But it offers a lot of benefits.  As a midwives San Diego I have been able to see these benefits firsthand. One benefit that can be gained is the privacy of the place that will be used as the delivery room. There is also no need for surgical procedures because the way of giving birth is natural.

Of course, there will always be objections. Some are doubtful about the safety of ths method.  But if it is a low risk pregnancy this shouldn’t be a big factor. But of course it will not be recommended to a mother whose pregnancy is a high-risk one.  In my San Diego midwife practice I always advise my clients to go with the normal delivery in a hospital if it is high risk.So that a doctor can immediately atted to the mother if an emergency arises.

Why you should choose a waterbirth delivery

Having a baby is the one of the most precious moments for a woman.  The experience of delivering a new life is like no other.  Although it comes with great pain, most women will agree it is worth it.

As a San Diego midwife I would like to share with you a method that you might not be aware of.It is also known as waterbirth.

Waterbirth has been called probably of all the methods of delivery the gentlest.  It requires the use of a heatedwater bath or a pool. You will find some women will use during the labor the water part. They will do it because heated water is actually a good pain reliever.  It is soothing to the tissues.

Other women also use it to deliver the baby. They remain in the water through the whole delivery.  Even all the way through delivering the placenta.

The entire procedure is usually administered by someone that is referred to as a midwife.  If you are in San Diego there are plenty of midwives San Diego. You will want one that is very experienced.

Why is there some woman who prefer this method of delivery rather than the hospital procedure? As described earlier, delivery and the labor part is extremely painful.A lot of women nowadays use drugs to lessen the pain.  But for some women, they don’t want drugs for fear of harming the baby.Using this method of waterbirth helps reduce the pain.  Because of the
water heated it is soothing to the tissues and helps reduce the pain.

Most women will go through this procedure naturally.  They will not use any drugs to cope with the pain.  Often times this actually helps the labor happen faster.  Because the use of drugs usually slows down the labor.

It is actually a very safe alternative of delivery.  For women looking to having their baby naturally this might be the way to go.  I have seen many happy deliveries as a San Diego licensed midwife.  All it takes for a woman is to research and see
how safe it is.
