Saving Marriage Requires Work

Both you and your partner have to be ready to work hard to mend the pieces of your damaged relationship and understand that it will take both time and effort. The last thing you want is for your marriage to fall into a deeper mess than it is already. If need be, you may have to be the bigger person and take the first step, even if you feel you aren’t the one who is wrong. Sacrifices should be made if you want to reach your marriage saving goals. No one said that saving marriage would be easy.

Save Marriage Means “Stop Complaining”

Complaining can be just as aggravating as nagging. You may not have thought of this, but frequent complaining to your spouse is also indicating that they’re doing something wrong. You certainly can’t force someone to change. You should understand that each and every change comes from the inside. If there are things you want your partner to change, they need to realize this for themselves.

You can alienate your spouse more by trying to pressure him into changing when he isn’t ready or forcing him to believe something he doesn’t believe in. If you keep on badgering your partner, they will feel like you don’t appreciate them for who they truly are.

You can help promote change in your partner simply by positively encouraging their efforts when you see effort being made. You know change doesn’t happen overnight but you are delighted by the effort. Affirmative reinforcement is much more effective than verbal attack.

If you are the one who is always getting the disapproval and complaints, try to go a different way than you normally do. Don’t get defensive and instantly start protesting. Instead, try to pay attention to what your partner is saying and also, figure out the reasons why she or he is complaining.

Try and hear the things your spouse is trying to tell you. You want them to know you are making a sincere and honest effort to see it from their side for a change. Saving a marriage is never easy, particularly if you feel that you are the one who is right but you need to prove to your spouse that you’re going to do whatever necessary for your marriage to be saved.

You never know the positive that can result from learning to communicate with your partner. Even if you don’t end up seeing “eye-to-eye”, your partner is going to appreciate your honest efforts in trying to understand their wants and needs.

Be patient and support each other. Understand that  marriage repair can only happen in the fullness of time. You will get frustrated some days and other days will be easier but all you can do is take it one day at a time. Don’t worry about the petty things and avoid quarrels. Always maintain the end result in your mind and heart. Prove your intent through your actions because talk is cheap.

Use Effective Communication To Fix A Marriage

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

If you like what you read, I recommend reading the following article as well: Fix a marriage

If you’re thinking on how to fix a marriage, one lesson you should learn is the proper way to communicate with your partner. Having good communication skills is probably the one trick that couples have to master to have a healthy and happy marriage. However, learning how to communicate the right way is hard to do and believe it or not, it requires practice. But don’t worry too much because below are some tips for improving communication in a marriage.

The best way to describe communication in a marriage is that it is a street that goes both ways. This just means that the couple should have their own inputs on the situation to have proper communication in a marriage. Aside from making grocery lists together, couples should also share to one another their worries and joys. By doing this, the marriage is being strengthened.

With proper communication, there is a feeling of security and contentment. However, you should realize that communication is beyond simply stating what is in your mind. You also need to listen to properly communicate with your partner. Having good listening skills will make you understand what your partner has to say.

One trap that most couples fall into is that they concentrate on airing their personal issues out first before they think of listening. Doing this just worsens the situation because this puts one party on the defensive. By listening to your partner, you are showing her how much you care and respect her which is one way to fix a marriage. When your partner feels this, she will truly be open to what you have to say.

Aside from simply hearing what your partner says, it also helps if you observe her actions. After letting her explain fully, do a recap of all her concerns to check if you really understand her. Only when you are sure you get her point should you give her a piece of your mind. Don’t commit the mistake of speaking before she is even through or you risk getting into a miscommunication.

Another challenge with engaging in proper communication is the time to do it. Today’s lifestyle is very fast-paced that we barely have time to do everything we want. In a marriage, though, you should set time for communicating with your wife about everything that is important to you. Depending on the time you have, you can set your ‘communication’ time as a part of each day or each week.

Even happy marriages are faced with difficult challenges but these couples just know how to properly communicate with each other, which is why their concerns get addressed right away. By learning the correct ways to fix a marriage, a compromise will surely be reached in every issue faced.

Ideally, a man marries a woman in the hope of spending a lifetime forever with her. Challenges will come and if a couple does not know how to team up and communicate with one another; troubles will surely arise in the marriage. If fixing the marriage by yourselves does not work, you can try going for marriage counseling. As a tip, do everything you can to keep the marriage from breaking.

Marriage Breakdown: What Causes Them?

Click here and read this: Marriage breakdown causes

What is a marriage breakdown? It’s a point in your marriage where you feel that it may not be able to last any longer. That the only answer is a divorce, one that is irreconcilable. These marriage breakdowns happen for many reasons, but the way in which you handle the crisis will directly affect if your marriage will last or not.

Though a couple who is happy a lot of the time, may have a lot easier time working through marriage breakdown problems. It’s a lot harder to want to quite a relationship in which you are always happen, with little down time. Or would you more quickly give up a marriage where you were always fighting? The answer is obvious in those two questions.

So yes it would seem that one of the ways to reach happiness in marriage is to not fight right? No kidding, and with very small occurrences of marriage breakdown problems you will not fight near as much. Unless there are certain problems that have made you dislike each other so much you fight about anything and everything. And yes there is a huge difference between play fighting, and real fighting.

It’s hard for your parents to realize exactly what this marriage breakdown is doing to you. In fact in most cases they are so unhappy they have a hard time looking past their own feelings. That doesn’t mean they don’t love you. Many kids who have experienced a divorce though will feel that they may have caused the problems, making them feel worthless.

As a parent who’s gone through a marriage breakdown and have children involved, you need to make sure how your children feel. Go and talk to them, even as they get older so you can make sure they never feel that your divorce was caused by them. This could help cure the need for years of counseling that may arise if you don’t go and talk to them.

Sadly though many children will go through this divorce process, as they watch parents head down the road of marriage breakdown. Alarmingly, divorce seems to be so accepted by people anymore that many parents don’t even seem to fight to save their marriages anymore. It’s sad that an institution that was once held so high has gone to such a low level.

Yes there are still people out there that will hold marriage where it should be. Taking their vows seriously, and realizing that they can’t just give up at the first sign of marriage breakdown. That they do need to get help, be it by a book, or through a counselor.

Finally, though we all know that marriage is hard work, it’s still hard at times to push ourselves to work past certain problems. Cheating is one of the hardest things to overcome in marriage breakdown. It takes a very special person to be able to look past this and be willing to work with their spouse. Lack of trust will no doubt continue though.
